Frequently Asked Questions
Can you help me get ready for retirement?
Yes! Whether you are thinking about retirement or already retired, we will create a plan that looks at income, expenses, Social Security, pensions, savings, and taxes so you can feel confident your lifestyle is sustainable.
What if I just changed jobs, can you help with my 401(k)?
Absolutely. We will walk you through your options (leave it, roll it over, or move it elsewhere) and explain what makes the most sense for you, not the company you left.
Can you help me figure out Social Security and Medicare?
Yes. We run scenarios to show the best time to claim Social Security and help you understand Medicare choices, so you avoid costly mistakes.
Do you only manage investments, or do you also create a financial plan?
Both. Many clients start with a plan, budgeting, goals, retirement timing and then we manage the investments to keep that plan on track.
How do you manage investments?
We will talk through your goals and comfort with risk, then create a diversified portfolio. After that, we monitor and adjust it for you, so you do not have to watch the markets every day.
What if I just want a second opinion?
That is fine too. Some clients come to us just to check if they are on track and we will give you an honest assessment without pressure.
I am worried about taxes. Do you offer tax planning?
Yes, we do tax planning for our clients. We do not prepare returns, but we do look ahead and design strategies; like Roth conversions, charitable giving, and timing income to help keep taxes as low as possible over your lifetime.
What if something happens to me, can my spouse work with you too?
Definitely. We encourage couples to meet with us together, and we make sure both partners are comfortable with the plan. If something unexpected happens, your spouse already has a trusted team in place.
Do you give advice on insurance?
We review what you have, life, disability, umbrella, long-term care and let you know if it fits your plan. We do not sell insurance, so our advice is unbiased.
How are fees paid?
We are a fee-only firm, so we do not earn commissions for selling products. Our fees are typically based on a percentage of the assets we manage for you, and they are deducted directly from your account. This keeps things simple and fully transparent.
What is involved when becoming a client?
It starts with a conversation. We will get to know your goals, concerns, and financial picture. If it feels like a good fit for all of us, we will design a plan together and guide you through the account setup process. From there, our team handles the details so you can focus on living your life, not managing paperwork.
